How Important are Events?

I was talking to someone the other day and they said; Kathy Stover your going to another event? Are you nuts! They proceeded to tell me they are all the same and nothing but a huge pitch fest. I have been to several and yes that can be the case (sometimes) but not always. I have been to some where if you ran to the back of the room one more time it would constitute a weeks worth of aerobics not to mention if they zipped your credit card one more time the numbers would come clean off!

But that has not been the norm in my experience. What has transpired is deep friendships and great JV's as well as positive movement in my business ventures. What people are willing to share (openly) is a testament to the integrity and character of the people who attend. I do believe allot of it has to do with the individual that puts on the event as well. You follow people with integrity and character that's primarily who they attract.

And that's why I love social media. Every time I attend an event the people I meet and connect with at the events also connect on social media sites. It's always a win-win situation. So the next time your thinking about attending an event, chat with some folks that have been to a previous event, check them out make sure they are covering topics that will be beneficial to your growth and the growth of your business. And then Invest in Yourself and Your Business, it worth it!

I will attending two Events next month- Craig Duswalt's 4-DAY ROCKSTAR MARKETING BOOTCAMP On September 23 – 26, 2010 at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel - LAX in Los Angeles and Kelly O'Neil's MARKETING To MILLIONAIRES RETREAT SEPTEMBER 30 – OCTOBER 3, 2010 Manhattan Beach Marriott, Manhattan Beach,CA… #M2MR.……I know! But I can tell you I would not miss either one. I was at Craig Duswalt's last event and would absolutely not miss this one. Not only the excellent platform that he presents which is always fresh and new, but his lineup of speakers and Rock Star guest is going to,well ROCK!

Kelly O'Neil's event as she has announced will be the last in the Marketing to Millionaires. I Don't want to miss it! She has fun and exciting things planned (yes I have some insider info) What she offers is not like anyone else and is exactly the tools I need to market to the affluent. Social Media and Public Perception Kelly O’Neil Style

So I got to thinking about how Social Media can affect Public Perception. How do people see who we are and what we do.

How do they know they can trust us. What can we write about that gives them a sense that we are good honest people.

That we are human (normal whatever that means) Some people out on the net aren't so good , we know that but how? After we've spent a ton of money only to find out we've been had for another xxxx amount of bucks?

Where are the signs? Do we bear our soul? Let people see who we really are? I just read a blog post from Kelly O'Neil (if your offended by less than perfect language) Don't Read it!

I know I want to learn to learn from someone who's been there done that. Kelly knows How-to market to the affluent. If your going to market to the affluent You need to know how. It is Not the same.

David Reutimann,Nascar & The Online Entrepreneur

I watch the Nascar race each week with my husband. Now I can tell you I'm not a Big David Reutiman fan.But what sparked me to write on my blog today(you can see its been awhile) was this email I received and the headline "David Reutimann Gets His Second Nascar Sprint Win"

Of course the email I received wants me to buy something related to his brand. He won the Lifelock 400 at Chicagoland Speedway this past Saturday.

So you non-racing people are saying ok and so? Well it prompted me to take a look at his stats on Nascar.com. This guy (according to nascar.com) has stats from 2002. 2002!!! He just now gets his second Win!! His first win was in 2007!! That was 3 years ago!

In 8 years he had some top 5 finishes, although in 2004,2005,2006 he had a couple of starts and that was it! So my point is this, How far are you away from your first win? 1,2,3 years? months,weeks?

This guy is passionate, he is focused, he is determined! So with your online endeavors you may need to change things up, like David has, his car,crew. Maybe the plan and or the direction your headed.

Being a online entrepreneur isn't always falling into the proverbial bucket of (you know what) and coming out smelling like a Rose. Its work, but its fun and *Very* rewarding.

My thought……Keep focused on the black and white checkered flag. Your win could be right around the corner!!

A Business Card Photo Is Worth A Thousand?

So how important is your business card? Very important. What about what you put on your business card. Thought about it?. Yes I know your probably thinking the typical business name,your name,email,phone number,web address (maybe) fax.

Business cards are convenient and they are easy to get and use. There are several online vendors one being Vista Print.You can Google business cards, tons of companies come up. But check your local printer as well.

I found recently that my local printer is willing to deal to stay competitive with online sources and often times will offer additional benefits. So if you still don't have your personal business card it's high time to get it!

Your business card is also an extension of you and your business. Your business card along with meeting you for the first time is the first impression you make on a potential customer /client. So, it is imperative that you have a distinctive and unique business card.

What brought me to write about this today is this. I was at an event recently and I received an enormous of business cards. Now don't get me wrong there were some that were extremely professional and beautifully done cards. But out of all of them I could only identify three of whom I received them from.

Why? They had their photograph on the front or back. Now I don't know about you but when you meet that many people and you shake hands have some words and move on, you have about enough time to write on the card (if your lucky) something to move your memory. I did receive some without photos that were exceptional and did stand out in my mind, but few at best.

What am I saying here? A picture is worth a thousand words. So a couple of things, Design matters and to insure that your card does not to get lost among hundreds of others handed out, make sure it has a distinctive and impressive design and *Your* photo.

Doesn't even have to be very a big photo. By doing so you are sure to leave a professional and memorable impression with every potential customer/connection you meet.

The more transparent and clear your information which is conveniently located on your business card the more people are attracted to you. If you go to an event and you are still trying to figure out *what* your business is going to be? That's ok, just make sure you have a card that provides a way for people to stay in touch with you with the basic information.

So, try it the next time you place your card order, believe me a picture is worth a thousand………….did I say words.

I Met a RockStar! Axl Rose’s Personal Manager

Ok, so it all started back in January of this year when I attended an event put on By Wealth Builders. One of the speakers was Craig Duswalt. What an amazing guy!

His persona, his style really hit a cord with me (no pun intended). What a fantastic way to teach business entrepreneurs. Brian and I connected with Craig again in early March and attended his RockStar Boot Camp a few weeks later.

Talk about energy and excitement! So did I meet a RockStar? Craig's guest musician was Eddie Money.

And really I feel like Craig is a Rock Star too. He was Guns N' Roses, *Axl Rose's personal manager*, and was with Air Supply, as the band's personal assistant.

Craig combines his backgrounds in both music and marketing, and he teaches numerous ways to save a ton of money on marketing and advertising; and how to become perceived as a celebrity and an expert in your business where potential clients will come to you instead of you having to go after them.

Double Keys To Success

Marilyn and Melody known as "The Keymer Twins" will be on The Internet Citadel Show March 9th at 6PM PST. I met these two wonderful women in January at a Wealth Builder Summit.

I titled this Double Keys to Success as it is a term the Ladies coined. How perfect. In sharing with them on a recent phone conversation one of the statements they made was they want to get back to our soul of being twins, back to the heart. That so touched me as to what that means for people that encounter them along the way, it is truly a gift.

They want to teach values that guide you and leave a legacy. They have set a goal for what they want to achieve and its not unlike any they we may have set for ourselves.
